About Our School
Vale View Primary School predominantly serves the areas of Maxton and Elms Vale. It is a 'Good School' where, as Ofsted noted in their most recent visit, ‘lessons are lively and interesting and teachers make good links between subjects to make the learning richer and more relevant’ (Ofsted, June 2013).
The school is a one-form entry school with a maximum of 30 pupils in each year group. We are fortunate to have a maintained Nursery on-site which is staffed by a very experienced, specialist Nursery Team. Our Nursery offers flexible sessions with the opportunity to purchase additional sessions where available at very competitive rates. Although children who attend Vale View Nursery are not automatically guaranteed a place in the main school on transition to Reception class, they are very much seen as part of the school family, joining in with Nativity plays at Christmas as well as other key events throughout the school year.
We have a fully inclusive approach and are aware that each child has an individual range of abilities and will make varying rates of progress in all areas of work as well as in relationships. Children with additional educational needs are catered for by high quality teaching and ability grouping within each class. Work in class is ability matched and pupils receive extra support or interventions when appropriate according to need.
We have a dedicated SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) who is responsible for the co-ordination and provision of support for children who have special needs throughout the school.
