Term 1

Fossil excavation activity Fossil excavation activity Fossil excavation activity

We have really enjoyed our learning lift off activity this term!
The Year 3 pupils stepped into the shoes of paleaontologists as they took part in an exciting fossil excavation activity! Using special tools, they chipped away at the rock to uncover hidden fossils buried inside.

In our creative curriculum topic this term, we have been looking at how to add texture when sketching fossils. The pupils have used a range of techniques to produce some amazing artwork.

Term 2

Anglo-Saxon shield  Anglo-Saxon shield

As part of our creative curriculum topic this term, the children have been exploring what life was like during the Anglo-Saxon era. For our Learning Lift-Off, they designed and created their own Anglo-Saxon shields, carefully choosing colours that reflected key Saxon values - for example, red to represent strength.

The children have also been applying their historical knowledge in English. They have produced non-chronological reports about who the Anglo-Saxons were and have written diary entries from the perspective of Bron, the main character in our class text Freedom for Bron.
