Term 3

Our Topic this term is entitled 'Home Sweet Home'.

Home is where the heart is! Are all homes the same and who lives where? This term we explore the idea of what a ‘home’ means. All homes are different. Our homes are in the United Kingdom, which is made up of four countries – what can we learn about these countries to help us better understand where we live? Are homes made up of bricks or families? We think about the difference between a ‘home’ and a ‘house’. We will explore materials used to make houses but also what it is that makes home feel special to us.

---------------------------------

What a great start to the term with an exciting Learning Lift-off! This term our topic is “Home Sweet Home” so the children were tasked with creating their dream house. They started off looking through some magazines to decide what features they wanted to include. Next, they drew a plan adding all the details they needed. Finally, they had a choice of sticks, Lego, junk modelling or marble run to create a model of their dream house.

In our Maths lessons we have started by doubling numbers using manipulatives. The children worked collaboratively to work out their answers. Have a look at how well they have done.

-------------------------------------------------

In RE lessons this term the children are learning about Islam. This week they learnt the story of Muhammed (PBUH) and the crying camel. They all then created a freeze frame of different parts of the story.

In PSHE this term our focus is on how to stay healthy. We have focused on the importance of hygiene to help prevent spreading germs. The children found this lesson very entertaining as we used glitter to represent germs and they passed their “germs” around. We then made sure we washed our hands very carefully to remove any germs.

Our number Maths lessons have been focused on repeated addition as this will lead into the children learning about multiplication. We have used a variety of resources to help support our learning, have a look at how well we have done!
