Term 2

Our Topic this term is entitled 'Bright Sparks / Sound'.

Whether we are driving around in our cars, working, or relaxing at home, we are turning on lights, music, TV, radio, computers and mobile phones. We are plugged in to sound and light 24 hours a day. But what is the science behind sound and light?

Electricity is one of the most important discoveries ever made and we have learned how to use it to power almost every aspect of our lives. Who discovered electricity and how does it work? As Scientists we will investigate insulators and conductors and learn how to conduct a fair test to extend and develop our understanding of electricity.

Bright Sparks

This term we are going electric. We have a range of activities to do with sound and electricity. To launch our topic, we learned about making circuits and seeing if a potato could power a bulb. We had some real success and faced some issues but the children were very Positive Penguins throughout. We are going to create some amazing things this term!

History Morning

We were very lucky to receive a visit from the English Heritage Conservation Van. This allowed the children practical hands on skills learning about jobs in conservation and preservation. We learned how to restore paintings, build walls with bricks and mortar, protect paintings from sunlight, save properties from bugs and be archaeologists. The children had a great time and hopefully it leads to some future careers preserving the great heritage of this country.
