Term 5

Our topic this term is - Where does it come from?

What do plants need to grow? Where in the world do different animals come from? The children will dive head first into finding out about lots of different plants and animals in the natural world; be it a real life experience of finding mini-beasts in the outside area or finding out about different plants and habitats across the world.

As we begin to create and think critically, children will explore the natural world around them and begin to link their knowledge, skills and understanding together.

MINIBEAST DAY!

What an exciting start to the new term! We are beginning to enjoy where things come from, with a focus on minibeasts this week. We were very excited to dress as our favourite minibeast, explore the garden, make our own minibeast models and so much more.

We have started to take a look at the healthy foods that The Hungry Caterpillar enjoys, and we are learning about how these keep our bodies nice and healthy. After listening to Oliver’s Fruit Salad story, we set out to make our own fruit snacks with strawberries and jelly. YUM!

Wow- what an exciting welly walk we’ve had! Orange Class have thoroughly enjoyed visiting St Martin’s School and exploring their nature area. We found lots of minibeasts including some frogs, and their spawn. Take a look at what we’ve found.

What an amazing morning out! We walked to Priory Fields School because they had a special visitor from the ZooLab. She bought some extremely special visitors with her too. They were giant minibeasts! We thought they were “giant” “snake like” and “tickly!”

We are absolutely thrilled to invite parents back in for Stay and Play sessions. The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning with their families and showing them their amazing skills they’ve learnt throughout the year. We hope they can come again soon.
